Founder and CIO
Ashvin Murthy is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of AVM Capital. He launched the AVM Global Opportunity Fund in 2016, a macro investment strategy with an established track record of delivering attractive risk adjusted returns.
Ashvin began his career in finance in the Fixed Income division at UBS. He was involved in trading complex derivatives across the Fixed Income spectrum, a journey that involved working in 4 different teams across Singapore, London and Zurich. He then moved to Hong Kong to lead the FX Options Team at Natixis, earning them the accolade of the 2nd best FX Solutions House in Asia in 2014. This breadth of experience in financial markets enabled Ashvin to develop a proprietary strategy that delivers robust and steady returns through different economic regimes.
Ashvin was awarded a scholarship by the Singapore Public Service Commission to study Engineering in France. He graduated with a Diplome d’Ingenieur (Master of Science in Engineering) from Ecole Centrale Paris and received the Bourse d’Excellence Eiffel from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in France. Ashvin then went on to obtain a Master of Science in Financial Engineering from Columbia University in 2003.
Chief Operating Officer
Joanna Boo is Chief Operating Officer & Director of AVM Capital. She is a seasoned finance professional with 15 years of experience spanning Fintech, Alternative Fund Management and Financial Services. She overseas all aspects of the firm’s operations and finances, which includes fund accounting, IT, legal and compliance, risk management and human resources.
In her previous role, Joanna was the Finance Director of ADDX (previously known as iSTOX), the world’s first integrated issuance, custody and trading platform for digitized securities. As a pioneering member of the firm, she was responsible for the overall accounting oversight and financial management of the company.
Prior to that, Joanna was at Swiss-Asia Financial Services as the Head of Operations, where she led a team of 9 to oversee all operational aspects of the firm. Joanna also served on the Board of Directors of several funds that were being managed by Swiss-Asia.
Joanna holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from the Singapore Management University and is a certified Chartered Accountant (Singapore).
Head of Business Development
Leon Lee, CFA, is Head of Business Development at AVM Capital. He brings to the team more than 20 years of experience in the asset management and private wealth management industries.
Leon started his career in the Asset Management Industry working closely with Sovereign Wealth Funds, Pension Funds and Insurance Companies. He then spent more than 15 years in private banking as a senior relationship manager and team leader, serving family offices and UHNW Individuals. He was Managing Director at Bank of Singapore and subsequently, Citi Private Bank.
Having worked closely with clients through various financial market conditions, Leon is a firm believer in the importance of delivering superior risk adjusted returns within portfolios.
Leon graduated from University of Western Australia with majors in Accounting and Finance in 1997. He also served as an officer in the Singapore Armed Forces.
Abhay Mulbagal Suchindra is a Quantitative Analyst at AVM Capital.
Abhay works closely with the CIO to build and manage the quantitative models that are behind AVM’s scalable and repeatable investment process. These models work through swathes of data in several developed and emerging market economies to provide fundamental and technical trading signals for the investment team.
Abhay developed a penchant for analytics during his 2-year stint as a Data Scientist with Mu Sigma Inc., the largest pure-play data analytics firm in the world. At Mu Sigma, he conceptualized and provided data analytics services to clients belonging to the Fortune 500 companies.
Abhay obtained an Engineering degree in Bioinformatics from VIT University (Vellore), India and a Master of Science in Quantitative Finance at Singapore Management University.
